Everything you ever wanted to know about fubnub - the idea »

The initial motivation for fubnub was spawned from a few blog posts (this one and this one to be specific) by Charlie O'Donnell (of Path 101 fame).

Kevin Marshall (of BotFu and Draftwizard fame) was inspired by the thoughts and ear marked the idea as something to play with and build upon when he got time.

What you see here on fubnub.com so far is the result of Kevin's playing and additional feedback and ideas from Charlie and others.

What's with the name fubnub?

The original motivation to create the word fubnub as a domain came as a result of trying to create a variation of another name: yubnub.org (which is also a great site/service you should check out when you get a chance)

You see, Kevin's somewhat of a domain name collector (he's got over 40 domains in his current collection). When he comes up with a set of characters or a word he thinks might make a good domain, he usually grabs it. fubnub.com was really just one of those names. As such, it was just sitting around and wasn't acquired for some specific reason or project.

When he started thinking about a 'republishing feed' type of service, he wanted to use one of his names that had a verb-like feel to it. Being able to say something like fubnub your feed just clicked in his brain and so it seemed to be a good fit for a project like this.

What's the revenue model?

There ain't one - yet.

Kevin hacked together the initial version of fubnub for selfish, personal reasons and to play around with a few 'neat' ideas. So no revenue or business model was required to get started. In fact, no real thought has even been given to the future of fubnub as a project yet.

This really gives Kevin the freedom to see if he continues to use it for his own selfish reasons. And if others like you stumble in, like it, and adopt it then maybe he'll start thinking more about turning it into a business!

Is everything around here someone else's idea?

Pretty much, yes.

Kevin is just the one who hacked all the ideas and inspirations together into one big ball of fubnub fun. To be fair though, he has thrown in a lot of his own spice and flavor to the project (usually classified as 'bugs' by his tech buddies).

Don't fret though, Kevin is happy to steal...err...incorporate your ideas too. Just drop him an email any time at info at falicon.com!

What are the technical details?
